Marthille (until 1919 Marthil ) is a French commune with 171 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .
geography
The municipality of Marthille is located five kilometers west of Morhange in Saulnois at an altitude between 249 and 359 m above sea level. The municipality covers 10.2 km². The French Nied rises in Marthille .
history
The village was first mentioned as Marte in 717 and was given the German name Marten from 1940-44 .
