Dannelbourg ( German Dannelburg ) is a French commune with 500 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Phalsbourg .

geography

Dannelbourg is located in the Vosges , about 14 kilometers east of Sarrebourg . The municipality covers 2.95 km². The place lies elongated on a high plateau above the valley of the Zorn .

The neighboring municipalities of Dannelbourg are Mittelbronn in the north, Phalsbourg in the northeast, Lutzelbourg in the east and south and Henridorff in the southwest.

history

The place belonged to France from 1661, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
