Foulcrey (German Folkringen ) is a French commune with 170 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .
geography
Foulcrey is located halfway between Sarrebourg and Lunéville on the border with the Meurthe-et-Moselle department at an altitude between 283 and 355 m above sea level. The municipality covers 12.34 km².
A little to the north is the Étang de Foulcrey ( Folkringer Weiher ).
history
The village was first mentioned as Foukereis in 1332 . Other spellings were: Folkeranges (1361), Folkeringen (1438), Folkringen (1490), Volkringen (1615).
The village has belonged to France since 1681.
1915–1918 and 1940–1944 it bore the Germanized name Folkringen .
