Hertzing (German Herzing , 1940-44 Herzingen ) is a French commune with 190 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

The municipality of Hertzing is located on the Rhine-Marne Canal , nine kilometers southwest of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 265 and 310 m above sea level. The municipality covers 1.54 km².

Hof la Giraffe, a little south-east, also belongs to the municipality .

history

The village was German until 1681, then became part of France, became German again in 1871 and then French again in 1919. In the period from 1939 to 1945 it was again under German administration and then again under French administration.
