Fraquelfing is a French commune with 83 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins .

geography

The place is located on the southeast edge of the department, about eleven kilometers south of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 282 and 374 m above sea level. The municipality covers 4.44 km².

The southern part of the municipality is covered by part of the Bois de Harcholins ( Forest of Harschlingen ).

history

The village was first mentioned in 1205 as Vrahelfingen and was then in the German-speaking area, since 1661 it has belonged to France. 1915-18 and 1940-44 it was named Frackelfingen .
