Kerprich-aux-Bois ( German Kirchberg am Wald ) is a French commune with 165 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Sarrebourg .
geography
Kerprich-aux-Bois is about seven kilometers west of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 257 and 314 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.45 km². In the west, the community has a share of the Étang du Stock (Stockweiher) and the Saar Canal .
history
The place was first mentioned in 1178 as Kirchberg . The village has belonged to France since 1661.
From October 1, 1972 to January 1, 1984, Kerprich-aux-Bois and Diane-Capelle formed the community of Diane-et-Kerprich .
