Zilling ( German Zillingen ) is a French commune with 274 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Sarrebourg-Château-Salins and the canton of Phalsbourg .

geography

Zilling is about 13 kilometers east of Sarrebourg at an altitude between 238 and 304 m above sea level. The municipality covers 3.58 km².

history

The place was first mentioned in 966 as Zuelingen and belonged to France from 1661, then became German again through the Peace of Frankfurt in 1871 and French again after the First World War. The region was again under German administration during the Second World War.
