Ministry of Appointments
The Ministry of Appointments ( Chinese 吏部 , Pinyin Lìbù ; also: Ministry of Personnel ) was one of the six ministries of Imperial China .
It existed in this form from the Tang Dynasty until the fall of the monarchy in 1911 . Before that, his duties fell within the responsibility of the overseer for the servants in particular ; in the Song Dynasty , they were temporarily held by the secretarial office .
The Ministry was responsible for the personnel affairs of the imperial officials. In the Ming period , it comprised the four offices of appointments , honors , service reports, and performance reviews . Until 736, the Ministry of Personnel was also responsible for conducting official examinations , before handing this responsibility over to the Ministry of Rites .
