Uenohara ( Japanese 上 野 原 市 , -shi ) is a city in Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan .

Uenohara is east of Ōtsuki and west of Tokyo .

history

In 1990 the asteroid (4381) Uenohara was named after the city.

Uenohara became a major city ( Shi ) on February 13, 2005 through the incorporation of Akiyama Village in Minamitsuru County .
