Kōshū ( Japanese 甲 州市 , -shi ) is a city in Yamanashi prefecture in Japan .

Kōshū is east of Kōfu and west of Tokyo .

It was only created on November 1, 2005 from the merger of Enzan , Katsunuma and Yamato .
