The Nagoya Station ( Jap. 名古屋駅 , Nagoya-eki ) is located in the district Nakamura of the Japanese city of Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture . The station is known for its two 245 meter high twin towers, the JR Central Towers . Right next door are Nagoya Meitetsu Station and Nagoya Kintetsu Station, operated by the Meitetsu and Kintetsu railway companies, respectively . The station was included in the Guinness Book of World Records on February 28, 2002 as the tallest station building.

history

The station was opened on May 1, 1886 by the State Railways, the forerunner of today's Japan Railways , in the spelling 名 護 屋 駅 . On April 25, 1887, the spelling was changed to today's 名古屋 駅 .
