Central Japan Railway Company ( English ; Japanese 東海 旅客 鉄 道 株式会社 , Tōkai ryokaku tetsudō kabushiki-gaisha ), short JR Central ( JR 東海 , JR Tōkai ), is one of the seven successors of the 1987 privatized Japanese National Railways .

The company's largest shareholders (as of March 31, 2015) are Mizuho Corporate Bank ( Mizuho Financial Group ) (4.75%) and Master Trust Bank of Japan (4.14%) as well as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (3, 24). The back office of the Japanese Railway Construction, Transport and Technology Authority (JRTT) has now fully sold its shares.

JR Central was founded on April 1, 1987 after the Japanese State Railroad Company was privatized and split up.
