The KK Mizuho Financial Group ( Japanese 株式会社 み ず ほ フ ィ ナ ン シ ャ ル グ ル ー プ , Kabushiki kaisha Mizuho Finansharu Gurūpu , MHFG , English Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. ) is one of the largest financial services companies in the world. The Japanese company is based in the Marunouchi district of the Chiyoda district in Tokyo .

The bank is one of the 30 major banks that the Financial Stability Board (FSB) as "systemically important financial institution" ( systemically important financial institution ) were classified. It is therefore subject to special monitoring and stricter requirements for the endowment with equity .

history

Mizuho was formed in 2000 under the name Mizuho Holdings, Inc. through the merger of Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank , Fuji Bank and Industrial Bank of Japan .

In January 2003, as a result of the Japanese banking crisis, the Mizuho Financial Group was founded with the capital of Mizuho Holdings. Through an exchange, the company has now become the sole owner of Mizuho Holdings, Inc.

A cooperation with Wirecard AG has existed since March 2018 . As part of the cooperation, Wirecard offers Mizuho's corporate customers card acceptance and issuing services ( acquiring and issuing ) in the greater Asia area.
