Enzan ( Japanese 塩 山 市 , -shi ) was a Japanese city ​​in the northeastern part of Yamanashi Prefecture .

Enzan is 388 m above sea level. NN about 100 km west of Tokyo and 10 km northeast of the prefecture capital Kofu . The city was founded on April 5, 1954 .

On November 1, 2005, Enzan merged with the city of Katsunuma and the village of Yamato to form the city of Koshu .

The area is known for its viticulture and fruit crops , among other things . It lies at the foot of the Chichibu-Tama National Park .

Since 1993 Enzan maintains a city partnership with the city of Ames in the US state of Iowa .

The actor Tomokazu Miura and the soccer player Eijun Kiyokumo come from Enzan .
