Access

A chairlift leads from Rio Gere in Val Begontina to the (private) Rifugio Son Forca ( 2215  m ) at the upper end of Val Padeon. The gondola lift to Forcella Staunies ( 2919  m ) and Capanna G. Lorenzi ( 2932  m ) was built for the Winter Olympics in Cortina in 1956; in winter it functioned as a double chair lift, in summer as a gondola lift. It has been closed since 2016 until further notice.

Via ferratas

Three fixed rope routes (via ferrata) open up the mountain range and for the most part follow the old war trails. In addition to the Via Ferrata Renato de Pol , which opens up the area from the northwest, there are also the Via Ferrata Ivano Dibona and the Via Ferrata Marino Bianchi .

history

During the First World War there was considerable military activity here. The fronts between the Italian and Austrian troops ran through this area. Remains of ladders, military positions and buildings still bear witness to this today.

Varia

In 1993 parts of the film Cliffhanger - Only the Strong Survive were shot in the area of the Cristallo group.
