Rimsdorf is a French commune with 308 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Saverne and the municipality association Alsace Bossue .
geography
The municipality of Rimsdorf in Crooked Alsace is located on a ridge that separates the Saar valley in the west from the catchment area of the Eichel in the east. In the area of the municipality, the Metzlachgraben rises as a direct tributary of the Saar, east of the village center of the Hoellgraben , a tributary of the Eichel. A third of the 6.07 km² area of the municipality belongs to the forest area Forêt domaniale de Sarre-Union (formerly: Bannholz ), the majority of the gently hilly area consists of pastures and fields.
Rimsdorf's neighboring communities are Domfessel in the northeast, Mackwiller in the east, Thal-Drulingen and Burbach in the south, Sarrewerden in the west and Sarre-Union in the northwest.
history
Rimsdorf belonged to the Counts of Sarrewerden , from 1745 until the French Revolution in 1789 to the house of Nassau-Weilburg .
In 1793 the community still had the spelling Rimsdorff , 1801 Rimstorf .
The church, which was destroyed in World War II, was replaced by a modern church completed in 1960.

Economy and Infrastructure
There are two farms in the community (horse and cattle breeding). There is also a sawmill in the community. Some residents are commuters to the nearby industrial areas of the city of Sarre-Union .
The Paris-Strasbourg motorway runs through the municipality of Rimsdorfs in a north-south direction with the Sarre-Union connection , located one kilometer south of the village center. The national road 61 ( Saarbrücken - Phalsbourg ), which runs parallel to the motorway, touches the south of the municipality. The nearest train stations are in Sarralbe and Diemeringen .
