Attractions

With the Ottmarsheim abbey church, the place hides an important architectural monument from the early 11th century, which Rudolf von Altenburg , an ancestor of the Habsburgs , had built as an octagon , but much simpler , based on the model of the Count Palatine Chapel of Charlemagne in Aachen . Therefore, Ottmarsheim is also a stop on the Romanesque Road of Alsace.

Not far from the abbey church is the former Ottmarsheim Benedictine monastery with its listed Anna chapel.

Economy and Infrastructure

An industrial and port area was created along the Rhine canal. To the south of the village, the A36 autoroute crosses the river on the Ottmarsheim Rhine bridge . The Ottmarsheim hydropower plant is in the immediate vicinity .
