The municipality of Waltenheim is located in the Sundgau , halfway between the cities of Mulhouse and Basel . The highest point is at 313 meters above sea level on the municipal border with Uffheim , while the village center is 285 meters above sea level.

Neighboring communities of Waltenheim are Geispitzen in the north, Sierentz in the east, Uffheim in the southeast and south, Magstatt-le-Bas in the southwest and Kœtzingue in the west.

history

The name goes back to a noble family in the 12th century. At that time - in the year 1135 - this sex is mentioned. Various members of the Waltenheim family went down in history, as contemporary documents show. At least in 1533 the village called Waltenheim already existed.
