Magstatt-le-Haut (German Obermagstatt ) is a French commune with 283 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the canton of Brunstatt and community association Saint-Louis Agglomération .

history

Magstatt-le-Haut initially belonged to the rule of Altkirch , then that of Oberlandser and formed a large community with Geispitzen , Kœtzingue , Rantzwiller and Waltenheim . The village church was assigned to the neighboring village of Magstatt-le-Bas until 1820 . Some houses from the 19th century have been preserved.
