Lutterbach is a French commune with 6310 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Mulhouse and the canton of Kingersheim .

geography

The municipality of Lutterbach is located on the Doller , a left tributary of the Ill . It borders the city of Mulhouse in the southwest and is therefore part of the Mulhouse agglomeration. In the south of the municipality runs the A 36 ( E 54 / E 60 ) car route, which crosses the two-lane national route N 66 ( E 512 ) here.

Neighboring communities are Pfastatt in the north and east, Mulhouse in the south-west, Morschwiller-le-Bas in the south, Reiningue in the west and Wittelsheim in the north-west.

history

Lutterbach was first mentioned in writing in 735 in connection with an already existing church. The place was dependent on the Murbach Abbey . From the beginning of the 14th century until the French Revolution Lutterbach belonged to the Cistercian - Kloster Lützel .
