Mairie Baldersheim

Baldersheim is a French commune in the Haut-Rhin département in Alsace in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace). It belongs to the canton of Rixheim in the arrondissement of Mulhouse and has 2616 (as of January 1, 2017) inhabitants.

geography

Baldersheim is about seven kilometers northeast of Mulhouse and is traversed by the Quatelbach in a south-north direction , which runs parallel to the Ill here .

The Ill flows two kilometers west of the town center and Wittenheim is on the other side . Baldersheim borders on Ruelisheim to the northwest, Battenheim to the north , Ottmarsheim to the east and Sausheim to the south .

East of Baldersheim is the state-owned Forêt de la Hardt , a Natura 2000 area in accordance with the Birds Directive . An old section of the Rhine-Rhône Canal leads through the forest on the territory of the municipality.

history

Baldersheim was first mentioned as Balteresheim at the beginning of the 9th century . The first church was built in 1273. The place belonged to the property of the monasteries on the Odilienberg and in Ebersmünster . Since 1303 it belonged to the Habsburgs and came to France with the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 . The current church dates from 1780.

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Baldersheim belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Mulhouse in the district of Upper Alsace .

During the Second World War Baldersheim was about 80% destroyed.

Infrastructure

Baldersheim is accessed via Départementsstrasse D 201. In the immediate vicinity is the European route 25 , which coincides here with the A35 Lauterbourg - Strasbourg - Colmar - Basel , called L'Alsacienne .

The parish church of Saint-Pierre et Saint-Paul from the last quarter of the 18th century is equipped with an organ from 1873.
