Pfastatt (Alsatian Pfascht ) is a French commune with 9579 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region ( Alsace until 2015 ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Mulhouse and the canton of Kingersheim .
geography
The municipality of Pfastatt is located on the Doller and borders immediately northwest on the city of Mulhouse . It forms a closed settlement area with the surrounding communities and Mulhouse. Neighboring communities of Pfastatt are Richwiller in the north, Kingersheim in the northeast, Mulhouse in the east and south, Lutterbach in the west and Wittelsheim in the northwest.
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Pfastatt belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Mulhouse in the district of Upper Alsace .
