Hombourg ( German Homburg , Alsatian Humburg ) is a French commune with 1,334 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).
In the Forêt domaniale de la Hardt Sud , the Rhine-Rhône Canal coming from the south changes its direction to the west. One of the sights is the Château de Hombourg on the edge of the forest. There is an industrial zone on the Rhine canal . Hombourg borders on Neuenburg am Rhein in Germany to the east . The northern neighboring municipality is Ottmarsheim , to the south is Petit-Landau , the western neighboring municipalities are Habsheim and Rixheim .
The community calls itself “La Capitale du Golf ” - there is an 18-hole course on its premises, and since 2008 a second one. They belong to the Drei-Thermen-Golf-Resort based in Bad Bellingen , where two further 18-hole courses are located.
