At the beginning of the 12th century there was a previous building in place of today's church of St. Bartholomew, which had to be completely replaced when it was dilapidated. This happened from 1827 to 1830 according to plans by the builder Wagner from Altkirch . The new church tower collapsed so that the church could not be handed over to its intended purpose until 1843.
