history
“Luttenbach” originally means that the stream that passes the village is loud. This refers to the river Fecht . The place was first mentioned in 1120 as a district of Münster . It was not until 1801, after the French Revolution , that he became independent. From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Luttenbach-près-Munster belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Colmar district in the Upper Alsace district . During the First World War the place suffered badly due to its proximity to the front and was almost completely destroyed; the population had been evacuated in 1915. After the end of the war the village was rebuilt.
