Soultzeren (German Sulzern , Alsatian Sulzere ) is a French commune with 1,121 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the canton of Wintzenheim and the Vallée de Munster community association .

geography

Soultzeren is located in the upper Münstertal in the Alsatian Vosges . The Forlenweiher ( Lac des Truites ) and the Sulzerner See (French: Lac Vert ) are small mountain lakes that testify to an Ice Age glacier . The Fecht stream flows through Soultzeren . The municipality is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .

history

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Soultzeren belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Colmar district in the Upper Alsace district .
