Soultzbach-les-Bains (German Bad Sulzbach , Alsatian Sulzbe ) is a French commune with 735 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Vallée de Munster . The municipality is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .
geography
The small health resort is located on the Alsace Wine Route on the department road N 417 5 km west of Munster and 15 km west-southwest of Colmar . The two creeks Krebsbach and Runsbach flow through it.
Soultzbach-les-Bains has, together with Wihr-au-Val, a stop on the Colmar – Metzeral railway line .
history
Soultzbach was first mentioned in 1211 under the name "Soulcebach". The name is derived from the local salt production .
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Soultzbach-les-Bains belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Colmar district in the Upper Alsace district .

Attractions
- Church of Saint John the Baptist, built in the 15th century.
- Chapel of Saint Catherine, built in the 15th century and restored in the 18th century.
- A fountain from 1601.
- The 13th century Hattstatt-Schauenbourg Castle . In 1603 the castle was handed over from the Hattstatt House to the noble family of Schauenburg. The latter converted the property into a hotel for spa guests: the healing powers of the local springs had meanwhile got around.
Regular events
- On the last Saturday of June each year, St. John's Night is celebrated with an impressive fire.
