Porte du Ried is a French commune with 1,763 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Colmar-Ribeauvillé and the canton of Colmar-2 .
The municipality was created with effect from January 1, 2016 as Commune nouvelle through the union of the previous municipalities of Holtzwihr and Riedwihr . The town hall (Mairie) of the new municipality is located in the building of the previous town hall of Holzwihr.
geography
Porte du Ried is located in the Rhine plain about six kilometers northeast of Colmar and about 57 kilometers southwest of Strasbourg in the north of the Haut-Rhin department. The community consists of the settlements Holtzwihr and Riedwihr. The Canal de Colmar passes in the south of the municipality . The later in the Ill confluent Orchbach springs in the municipality.
Neighboring communities are Jebsheim in the northeast, Wickerschwihr in the east, Bischwihr in the southeast, Horbourg-Wihr in the south and Colmar in the west, northwest and north.
