Houssen (German Hausen , els. Hüse ) is a French commune with 2249 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).
geography
The municipality is located about five kilometers north of Colmar . The Ill flows in the east and the Fecht in the west .
history
The first written mention of the place in the Latinized form of the name Manus Husen dates back to 1176.
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Houssen belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Colmar district in the Upper Alsace district .

Commerce and traffic
Since 1990, Buhlfeld and Mariafeld, two large commercial areas in the municipal area of Houssen, have been created in which industrial companies and service companies have settled. The agriculture plays a minor role in the community.
Colmar-Houssen airfield is located south of the municipality .
