Zellberg is a French commune with 322 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

Zellberg is located on a small hill in the Upper Rhine Valley on the edge of the Vosges, in the middle of vineyards on the Alsace Wine Route between Ribeauvillé and Riquewihr . The municipality is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park .

history

From 1871 to the end of the First World War Zellenberg belonged as part of the Empire State Alsace-Lorraine to the German Reich and was the county Rappoltsweiler in the district of Upper Alsace assigned.

economy

The place is mainly characterized by viticulture, and to a lesser extent by tourism, although tourists mainly head for the neighboring Riquewihr. The best- known vineyards are the Alsace Grand Cru locations Froehn and Schoenenbourg (these together with Riquewihr).
