Griesbach-au-Val (German Griesbach , Alsatian Grischbe im Dal ) is a French commune with 714 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haut-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Colmar-Ribeauvillé , the canton of Wintzenheim and the Vallée de Munster community association .
geography
Griesbach-au-Val is located on the southern edge of the Vallée de Munster , across from Gunsbach . The municipality is part of the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park . In the valley, the proportion of agricultural zones is small. Industry has settled in the neighboring village of Gunsbach. Other neighboring villages are Eschbach-au-Val , Munster , Wihr-au-Val and Soultzbach-les-Bains .
With Gunsbach the village shares a breakpoint of the SNCF - Route Colmar-Metzeral which lies between the two towns.
history
Old documents show that Griesbach-au-Val was called Grunzensbach around 1239 . Around 1285 the village was under the rule of Hattstatt , around 1379 under that of Hus and around 1434 under that of Rappoltstein . Then the Reformation was carried out.
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Griesbach-au-Val belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the district of Colmar in the district of Upper Alsace .
