Ottmarsheim is a village in the Ludwigsburg district in northern Baden-Württemberg , which belongs to Besigheim .

Geographical location
Ottmarsheim is located almost five kilometers northeast of the city center of Besigheim in an area exclave of the city comprising only the village and its corridor on the plateau north of the Mundelsheim north and Hessigheim south bends of the Neckar . The Hörschelgraben, the main left upper reaches of the Talbach , runs through the village westwards and drains into the Neckar River via the Liebensteiner Bach. The settlement area extends from the lowest house on Hörschelgraben to around 280 m to around 315 m above sea level. NHN on the marginal hills of the flat valley. To the south-east of the residential area there is a newer commercial area on the city limits to Mundelsheim with a smaller part also on the boundary. In the east of the district it comprises part of the larger forest island on Bergabfall under the Wunnenstein , the rest of the area is open and is mostly under the plow.

The municipalities of Neckarwestheim border the Ottmarsheim area exclave of Besigheim in the north and northeast, as the only ones in the neighboring district of Heilbronn , Mundelsheim in the east and southeast, Hessigheim only slightly in the southwest and Gemmrigheim in the west.

Ottmarsheim was first mentioned in a document in 766. This makes Ottmarsheim the oldest municipality in the district. Ottmarsheim was only a post office in 766. The place was incorporated into Besigheim on September 1, 1971.

The coat of arms of the former municipality of Ottmarsheim showed in a divided shield split at the top, a lying black stag pole in gold at the top, the black capital letter A at the back, and a gold horn on a green fetter in red below. The capital letter refers to the spelling Autmaresheim , under which the place was mentioned for the first time in 766.
Attractions
The parish church of St. Hippolytus is a late Gothic west tower church, which was essentially completed in 1502. Inside on the walls and the ceiling of the nave there is baroque stucco from the years 1748–1759. The organ gallery shows artistically valuable baroque parapet paintings. The choir, on the other hand, has a Gothic ribbed vault.
There is a small town hall from 1765 renovated in the 1980s. The cell of the local prison has been preserved in the town hall. A home parlor is also set up on the upper floor.
