history

Ottmarsheim was first mentioned in a document in 766. This makes Ottmarsheim the oldest municipality in the district. Ottmarsheim was only a post office in 766. The place was incorporated into Besigheim on September 1, 1971.

coat of arms

The coat of arms of the former municipality of Ottmarsheim showed in a divided shield split at the top, a lying black stag pole in gold at the top, the black capital letter A at the back, and a gold horn on a green fetter in red below. The capital letter refers to the spelling Autmaresheim , under which the place was mentioned for the first time in 766.

Attractions

The parish church of St. Hippolytus is a late Gothic west tower church, which was essentially completed in 1502. Inside on the walls and the ceiling of the nave there is baroque stucco from the years 1748–1759. The organ gallery shows artistically valuable baroque parapet paintings. The choir, on the other hand, has a Gothic ribbed vault.

There is a small town hall from 1765 renovated in the 1980s. The cell of the local prison has been preserved in the town hall. A home parlor is also set up on the upper floor.
