The Route nationale 405 , or N 405 or RN 405 for short , is a former French national road .

The street number was added to the national road network in 1933. Until 1973 the route led from an intersection with the national road N64 north of Verdun to an intersection with the national road N47 .

The total length of the road was 32.5 kilometers.

The route crossed the battlefield of the First World War near Verdun . The completely destroyed town of Beaumont-en-Verdunois was also on the route .
