Saint-Blaise-la-Roche (German Sankt Blasius ) is a French commune with 228 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Breuschtal (French: Vallée de la Bruche ) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).
history
In a text from the 13th century, the same location is included under the name "Hiltwigsgerüte" and in German as Sankt Blasius. The settlement belonged to the lords of the Ban de la Roche , who belonged to the von Rathsamshausen family. The Counts of Andlau also had properties there, which led to conflicts between the two families. Furthermore, the village was owned by the diocese of Strasbourg, the lords of the Val de Villé and the barons of Bollwiller. Then Saint-Blaise-la-Roche passed again to the Counts of Andlau , who held it until the French Revolution . Subsequently, the village was assigned to the Vosges department. In 1871 the district of Unterelsaß came into being when Alsace was annexed by the German Empire under Kaiser Wilhelm I. In 1919 the Treaty of Versailles returned it to France (Bas-Rhin department).
location
The village is located in the area of the Vosges , about 35 kilometers southwest of Molsheim .
