Belmont ( German Schönenberg ) is a French commune with 167 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges Mountains in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).

The von Rathsamhausen family carried out the Reformation in the 16th century .

The municipality merged with Bellefosse and Waldersbach in 1974 and with Fouday in 1975 . Together they made the municipality of Le Ban-de-la-Roche . Since January 1, 1992 Belmont is again an independent municipality. Today she is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Vallée de la Bruche .
