Duppigheim (dt. Düppigheim ) is a French commune with 1597 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). She has been a member of the Communauté de communes de la Région de Molsheim-Mutzig since December 2002 . On January 1, 2015, Duppigheim moved from the Arrondissement Strasbourg-Campagne to the Arrondissement Molsheim .

Duppigheim is located at Strasbourg Airport , about twelve kilometers southwest of Strasbourg . Here the A352 branches off from the A35 .
history
On June 1, 1974, Duppigheim merged with Kolbsheim . Since January 1, 1983, both have again formed independent communities.
On August 11, 1939, Jean Bugatti , the son of the automobile manufacturer Ettore Bugatti , had a fatal accident in Duppigheim (10 km from the Bugatti factory) during a test drive with a Bugatti Type 57 C "Tank". At over 200 km / h Jean had to avoid a cyclist who suddenly came out of a field and crashed into a tree. There is a stele at the accident site in Duppigheim today .
