Griesheim-près-Molsheim (German Griesheim bei Molsheim ) is a French commune with 2188 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the canton of Molsheim in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ).
geography
Griesheim lies between the small towns of Molsheim and Oberehnheim ( Obernai ), which are each about 5 km to the northwest and southwest. The Strasbourg airport is located about 8 km north-east, the city center of Strasbourg 18 km north-east. About seven kilometers west of the municipality, the Upper Rhine Plain merges into the wooded Vosges . The neighboring communities are Bischoffsheim , Rosheim , Altorf , Innenheim and Blaesheim .
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Griesheim belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Molsheim district in the Lower Alsace district .

traffic
The next train stop is in the western neighboring community of Rosheim. The A35 and A352 motorways pass Griesheim to the south and north. In the neighboring town of Innenheim to the east there is a connection to the A35 from Strasbourg to Basel . The four-lane D500 runs west past Griesheim, there is a connection in Rosheim.
