Personalities

Johann Friedrich Oberlin , pastor in the Steintal ( Ban de la Roche ), born on August 31, 1740 in Strasbourg, died on June 1, 1826 in Waldersbach. He took care of the development of agriculture and the education of the communities in the Steintal. On his initiative, toddler schools emerged as a kind of kindergarten with educational goals. Oberlin is considered to be the inventor of the kindergarten .

Literary mention

Georg Büchner's story Lenz , in which he also uses notes from Oberlin, takes place in a fictional place Waldbach - meaning Waldersbach.
