Hohengœft (German Hohengöft ) is a French commune with 536 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Mossig et Vinnoble municipal association.

geography

The municipality of Hohengœft lies on the edge of the Vosges Mountains and is 16 kilometers from Saverne and 25 kilometers from Strasbourg . The 397 meter high Goeftberg rises southeast of the municipality as a northeastern continuation of a Vosges foothills.

Neighboring communities of Hohengœft are Rangen in the north, Willgottheim in the northeast, Wintzenheim-Kochersberg in the east, Kuttolsheim and Nordheim in the southeast, Wasselonne in the south, Crastatt in the west and Zehnacker in the northwest.

history

Hohengœft was a member of the Communauté de communes des Coteaux de la Mossig , founded in 1992 , which was merged into the Communauté de communes de la Mossig et du Vignoble in 2017 . On January 1, 2015, the municipality moved from the Arrondissement of Saverne to the Arrondissement of Molsheim and at the same time from the Canton of Marmoutier to the Canton of Saverne.
