Rothau is a French commune with 1,591 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Molsheim and the canton of Mutzig .

geography

The community of Rothau is located in the Breuschtal in the Vosges , about ten kilometers northwest of Sélestat . Together with the communities of La Broque, Barembach and Schirmeck, Rothau forms a closed settlement area.

Neighboring communities of Rothau are La Broque and Schirmeck in the north, Barembach in the northeast, Natzwiller and Wildersbach in the southwest and Solbach in the south.
