Bergbieten is a French commune with 704 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region ( Alsace until 2015 ). The village is dominated by agriculture, with viticulture in the foreground. Bergbieten is on the Alsace Wine Route . The Altenberg de Bergbieten vineyard is an Alsace Grand Cru vineyard.

history

Bergbieten is mentioned for the first time in documents from 1120. The village was affected by the German Peasants' War . Bergbieten was also not spared the consequences of the Thirty Years' War .

From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Bergbieten belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Molsheim district in the Lower Alsace district .

From 1992 to December 31, 2007, Bergbieten was a member of the Communauté de communes des Villages du Kehlbach together with Dangolsheim and Flexbourg . On January 1, 2008, she joined the Communauté de communes de la Porte du Vignoble with the other two municipalities , which in turn became part of the Communauté de communes de la Mossig et du Vignoble in 2017 .
