coat of arms
The upper part is the Rohan coat of arms. For a long time, until the Revolution, the place belonged to the bishops of Strasbourg. The four last bishops of Strasbourg were the Rohan family, originally from Brittany . It is split, on the right (actually in red) nine (3: 3: 3) golden window diamonds (Rohan) and on the left a depiction of ermine (Brittany). The lower part symbolizes the mill, which is economically important for the place.
Attractions
- Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. The former larger baroque from 1721 was completely rebuilt in 1826. The neo-Gothic church building contains a 40 m high bell tower, a single nave and a polygonal choir. Inside, the Stiehr-Mockers organ was installed in 1881.
- Castle / Chateau du Mullerhof. A Henry Müller from nearby Schirmeck bought a mill in Muhlbach-sur-Bruche in 1840 and installed a rotating loom there. He also built a chateau-like property that was named Mullerhof. Today the Dominicans run the College Saint Thomas Aquinas, a private school / lycée, in this property.
- Sepulchral chapel from 1861 near Mullerhof, Muhlbach-sur-Bruche. This neo-Gothic burial chapel was built under the Second Empire by order of the industrialist Jean-Baptiste Muller and his wife Caroline Baumlin as an extension to their Castle / Chateau du Mullerhof. The archiktetus was supposedly Viollet-le-Duc . Several large industrialists from the Coulaux family lie beneath the engraved floor slabs. The mother of Canon Paul Muller Simonis was also buried here. In Alsace, this private burial chapel is practically unmatched in its monumentality. It is a listed building and is now privately owned.
