The Reichsstraße 111 ( R 111 ) was a state road of the German Reich until 1945 , which connected Vorpommern and Hinterpommern in the Prussian province of Pomerania . It began in Gützkow south of Greifswald and led via the islands of Usedom and Wollin (with the port city of Swinoujscie ) to Gollnow north of Stettin . Their total length was 142 kilometers.

The first 69 kilometers still run today as federal road 111 in the eastern part of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to the German-Polish border between Ahlbeck (Heringsdorf) and Świnoujście ( Swinemünde ). From there, the Polish state road Droga krajowa 3 follows the former road layout to Goleniów ( Gollnow ), the end point of the R 111 in today's West Pomeranian Voivodeship .
