After the takeover of Alsace under German civil administration in 1940 to 1944, the road connection treated as Reichsstraße was designated as Reichsstraße 362 ( R 362 ) , which ran from Colmar in the course of the former French route nationale 422 via Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine (Heilig- Kreuz), Passing Ensisheim , Mulhouse (Mülhausen) to the east (junction with what was then Reichsstraße 378 ) and from there on towards Basel , where it met what was then Reichsstraße 9 at Sierentz (Sierenz) .
Their total length was around 70 kilometers.
