After the takeover of Alsace under German civil administration in 1940 to 1944, the road connection treated as Reichsstraße was designated as Reichsstraße 360 ( R 360 ) , that from Col de Sainte-Marie in the Vosges in the course of the former French route nationale 59 via Sainte-Marie -aux-Mines (Markirch) to Sélestat (Schlettstadt) and from there continued on today's Route départementale 424 to Marckolsheim (Markolsheim), where it ended at Reichsstraße 9 , which was extended through Alsace .
