The powiat Iławski (German Eylau) is a powiat (district) in the southwestern part of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is mainly surrounded by the Powiaten Ostróda (Osterode) in the east and Nowe Miasto (Neustadt) in the south, and with small corners it touches Elbląg (Elbing) in the north and Działdowo (Soldau) in the southeast. In the west runs the provincial border of Warmia-Mazury; Iława largely borders on Pomerania , in the southwest to a small extent on Kuyavian-Pomerania .
The Powiat area covers large parts of the former West Prussian district of Rosenberg i. Western pr. and the western part of the former East Prussian district of Mohrungen . The town of Löbau belonged to the West Prussian district of Neumark (West Pr.) Until 1920 and was incorporated into the Polish state on January 10, 1920 as part of the Polish corridor. The remaining areas belonged to the Prussian province of East Prussia until 1945 .
