The Gmina Susz is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Iławski of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Its seat is the city of the same name ( German Rosenberg i. Westpr. ) With about 5550 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the southwest of the voivodeship in the former West Prussia and borders the Pomeranian Voivodeship . The district town of Iława (German Eylau) is about seven kilometers southeast, Elbląg (Elbing) 40 kilometers north. Neighboring municipalities are Zalewo in the northeast, Iława in the southeast, Kisielice in the south and in the Pomeranian Voivodeship Prabuty in the west and Stary Dzierzgoń in the north.
In the area there are a number of small lakes of which Gaudy (Gaudensee) is the largest with 152 hectares . The most important flowing water is the Liwa (love) river . The community has an area of almost 259 km², 58 percent of which is used for agriculture and 29 percent for forestry.
history
The rural community was re-established in 1973 after its territory was repeatedly divided into Gromadas from 1954 to 1972 . Urban and rural parishes were united to form urban and rural parishes in 1990/1991. From 1946 to 1975 its area belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship and then to the Elbląg Voivodeship until 1998 . From 1946 to the end of 1958, the powiat Suszki existed with its seat in Iława. On January 1, 1999, the community came back to the powiat Iławski and the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship, which was newly formed and roughly corresponds to the Polish part of the former East Prussia province .
