The Gmina Prabuty [ praˈbutɨ ] is an urban-and-rural municipality in the powiat Kwidzyński of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . The municipality of Prabuty covers an area of ​​197.1 km² and has 13,200 inhabitants. Its seat is the city ​​of the same name ( German giant castle ) with about 8,700 inhabitants,

The municipality is located in the former West Prussia , about 15 km east-northeast of Kwidzyn (Marienwerder) and ten kilometers northwest of Susz (Rosenberg) . There are six larger lakes in the Eylauer Seenplatte in the municipality . The Jezioro Liwieniec (Castle Lake) is part of a nature reserve. The eastern boundary of the municipality also represents the border with the powiat Suski and the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
