Count Rodrigo zu Dohna-Finckenstein (born November 3, 1815 at Finckenstein Castle , Rosenberg district in West Prussia ; † April 9, 1900 there ) was a large German landowner and politician in Prussia.

Origin and family

Rodrigo Dohna arose from the Dohna-Schlobitten line of the Prussian nobility family Dohna. His parents were Fideikommissherr Alexander Fabian zu Dohna-Finckenstein (1781-1850) and Theophile Burggräfin zu Dohna-Lauck (1786-1855). The short-term Prussian interior minister Friedrich Ferdinand Alexander zu Dohna-Schlobitten was his uncle, the gentleman and manor Richard Friedrich zu Dohna-Schlobitten (1807-1894) his cousin. Dohna remained unmarried and had no offspring.

Life

Dohna began to study law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1838 he became active in the Corps Borussia Bonn . When he was inactive , he moved to the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin . From 1845 to 1851 Dohna was the district administrator of his home district of Rosenberg. In 1850 he inherited the Fideikommiss Finckenstein and the Görken estate in the district of Mohrungen from his father . He then took on political mandates in the province of East Prussia and in the German Empire at the Reich level. 1851/52 member of the Prussian House of Representatives , in 1868 he became a member of the Reichstag for the West Prussian constituency, administrative district Marienwerder 2 ( Rosenberg - Löbau ). Dohna was also able to hold this seat in the Reichstag (German Empire) in 1871. He was a member of the Reichstag until 1887. Dohna represented the German Conservative Party . In 1860 King Wilhelm appointed him to the Prussian mansion for life out of the utmost confidence . Dohna was chamberlain , knight of honor of the Order of St. John , honorary member of the Corps Borussia Bonn and since 1879 burgrave of Marienburg (Ordensburg) and castle captain.
