Świnie Oko ( German  Eichelswalde ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Piecki (Peitschendorf) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).

Geographical location

Świnie Oko is located in the heart of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , twelve kilometers southeast of the district town of Mrągowo ( German  Sensburg ).

history

The 1785 Schwienieoko and 1818 Schwinicken called rural community acorn forest originally consisted of a few small farms and homesteads. In 1874 it was incorporated into the Pfeilswalde district ( Pilnik in Polish , no longer existent), which existed until 1945 and belonged to the Sensburg district in the Gumbinnen district (from 1905: Allenstein district ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Allenstein voting area , to which Eichelswalde belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether it would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Eichelswalde, 80 people voted to stay with East Prussia, while Poland did not.

In 1945 acorn forest was in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland handed over and received the Polish form of the name "Świnie Oko". Today the small town is part of the rural community Piecki (whip village ) in the powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Until 1945 Eichelswalde was parish in the Protestant Church of Barranowen (1938 to 1945 Hoverbeck , Polish Baranowo ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church in Sensburg (Polish Mrągowo ) in the Diocese of Warmia .

Today Świnie Oko belongs to the parish Baranowo in the diocese of Ełk in the Polish Catholic Church and to the church in Mikołajki in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Świnie Oko is located south of the Polish state road 16 (former German Reichsstraße 127 ) and can be reached via Inulec (Inulzen , Neufasten 1938 to 1945 ) . A side road also leads from the Piecki (Peitschendorf) community into the village. There is no train connection.
